Part two: Leaving Home. (Flickerflash)
Flickerflash pushed herself to her paws and padded slowly to the leaders den. She received many stares from her clanmates, most likely because she hadn't left the medicine den for almost three moons. She ignored the other cats and walked over to Gingerstar's den. "Gingerstar?" she called softly.
"Flickerflash?" Gingerstar called back. "Just a moment."
Flickerflash backed a few steps away and sat down to wait. After a moment the bushes around the interance to the den quivered and Stoneclaw walked out, followed by Rushpaw, Pinesky, Hollyblossom, and Tumblethorn. As they passed Pinesky brushed his tail against her flank. "Good to see you again." He murmered. Then he padded over to the nursery to brush muzzles with Hazelcloud, his mate. Their kits trotted around them, squealing happily as Pinesky waved his tail for then to chase.
Flickerflash forced her eyes away, not allowing herself to look. As she settled her gaze back on the den Braveheart pushed his way out. When he saw Flickerflash his eyes grew wide. He took a step back. She glared at him with cold eyes. He shook his head then bounded away. She watched him go. He stopped outside the warriors den and Fernfrost stumbled out, yawning. When she saw Braveheart she smiled and they brushed muzzles.
Tears formed in her eyes as she turned her head away from the monster of the cat she'd once loved. "Flickerflash." Gingerstar asked softly. She turned to see his head poked out of his den. "He saw...." she thought suddenly as she saw the sad look in his eyes.
She cleared her throat and meowed, "I need to talk to you. It's quite important."
Gingerstar nodded and gestured she enter his den. She pushed through the bushes and and observed his den. She'd only been their once before, when she and Dustyflame had snuck out of camp as apprentices.
"So." Gingerstar said, resting his dark green gaze on her. "What do you need?"
Flickerflash looked at her paws. "Gingerstar, I can't do this." She said sadly, but certainly.
"You can't do what?"
"Stay here." a single tear dripped to the ground. "I'm sorry to have failed you, but I am leaving."
Gingerstar didn't seem surprised. "But where will you go?"
"I'm going to join Lightningclan, if they'll have me. I'm still a young cat and I've already been trained." She finally looked up to meet his eyes.
Gingerstar stared at her for a long time then he finally said in a sad, but firm voice. "You must leave by Sunrise tomorrow. And Flickerflash," he added, almost pleadingly. "You can always come back. We'll always be here for you."
