Betty the detail in that creature is amazing - but today (having been stung by a bumble bee yesterday whilst trying to rescue it from the dog) stinging things are not my friend!
My favourite part of this painting therefore is the floral background which is superb with that loose watercolour style.

insects I have been stung myself. Surprisingly red ants sting quite as badly as these. I also have been assailed by ticks and deerflies which are pretty nasty. I am glad you like the flowers - they are a variety of honeywort.
