But i don't like to do it that way because the window comes up small which annoys me. So you can also go to 'Projects-All projects' and click the 'contribute' button under the heading "Alien character contest". Then the window comes up big like normal. If you want to save and come back to it, just save as you normally do and when you want to start drawing again, go to 'contribute' again and open it from in there. Anyways I hope that made sense.
