variation-experiment

Variation Experiment! → variate

“Watch the playback, please! I took advantage of the layers to create a (hopefully) well-paced presentation for my idea of how to offer more content for variations. In this submission, I made 4 different drawings that you can browse, either by watching the playback, or by variating this submission and looking through the layers in your queeky app. I spent a couple of sessions over the course of the last week trying to plan and set this up, I hope you watch and enjoy... And if you care to, please take a shot at making a variation! Have fun!”

Love the concept

and very interesting to watch playback, I may decide to do one soon when the time comes I have enough time to sit and think about it. Great idea!

Can't wait

LMFAO Cracked up on the playback. Boobies are awesome, indeed.

This is a great idea!! I can't wait to see what people start coming up with.... and I wish I could join in. I'm having an issue like this now... so many sketches left incomplete because my coloring skills are lacking.

Thank you very much!

ha55ha said to me the other day, "I don't think that you don't have skill, but I think painting with tones is just out of your interest." I think that's a fair consideration to make. It's always good to push yourself as an artist and develop the styles that you have difficulty with, but you shouldn't beat yourself up about it to the point where you're becoming dissatisfied with your work because you haven't quite gotten used to the patience or experience required to pick and mix tones efficiently.

For me, linework comes pretty naturally and I've been avoiding it because it doesn't look as "polished" as some of the other artist's galleries. However, linework is quick and fun and can be just as distinctive as any of the painting-type submissions, if done right. And doodles are very easy for anyone to variate, which is always a plus. And if nothing else, you can post your WIP and ask for ways from the others on how to make it better from fellow artists. I like to think most of the regulars would be thrilled to share their creative wisdom with an eager mind.

this is so interesting..

a little film, funny, creative..I myself do not like to variate, it is like I imprison my creativity into something coming from others creativity, and I also feel that I may change too much the initial Artist purpose, plus when I draw with these digital tools, I do not usually sketch anything, actually I never know what I am going to draw, I use the brush or lines, circles, etc, directly, starting sometime with a background colored and mostly from the center, and then..the drawing gets almost by itself..lol.But I think the idea is great!!however YOUR LINES ARE GREAT, Crown Crown Crown Big smile Love your animation is fantastic!!!BRAVO!!!!

Thanks!

I understand what you are saying about getting the sense of imprisonment working off of others' work, but I also love the variation option because it gives you the ability to do anything you want with it, regardless of the artist's initial vision. I notice my favorite works are ones that I had absolutely no plan for what I was making, and lots of people tend to think I've intentionally implanted motifs to be interpreted.

I don't want to see other people trying to finish something I started, rather I'd like to give anyone interested free templates to create their own visions out of. I love the digital tools specifically because you can edit anything you want without ruining it, thanks to the layer functions. I really hope this takes off and spawns a couple variations.

Oh, and thanks for the support! It was kind of tricky getting the pacing to work between layers, and I hope my commentary throughout wasn't confusing or too childish. And thanks also for complimenting my linework... I made a point to only use the pencil tool on 1pt, and I wasn't sure I liked all the shading.

Definitely!

I really hope other people pick up on this... The selection of variable submissions available could definitely be more expansive. Please do take a crack at it if/when you get time! (and hey, maybe try a variation or two some time?) Tongue

Thank you, I tried to make it entertaining if nothing else, I'm glad that I succeeded in your case!

Recommended Framerate

I've tried watching this on a few different computers and I guess your recommended framerate varies greatly depending on your processor... On my modbook tablet, 25-50 is perfect, but on my friend's more powerful laptop at the same rate, it moved so fast there was no way to be able to read along...

Basically, adjust the rate so that you can read along with the words as they are written out... I suppose on more powerful computers, 10-15 would probably work.
