EPISODE 3
THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I SAY MOSTLY TO MOTHERS AND CHILDREN WHEN I WITNESS SOME BAD EDUCATIONAL ATTITUDE, WHEN KIDS CRYING TO HAVE AN EXTRA TOY WHILE THEY HAVE HUNDREDS AND NOT PLAY WITH THEM, ETC. I have to go back again to my childhood,and underline that most of the Society in the late 50s in Italy were quite suffering..I remember that the Butchers shop would be opened only 3 days a week, we ourselves had usually chicken only on a Sunday if and when possible, or Meat Soup, not always though. We would have 1 pair of shoes for the all winter and a pair of Sandal for the Summer.One winter I was going to school, it was snowing, I did not have Boots, that was for reach people, till the 60's when started to appear the Rubber boots at achievable cost, and I had my red shoes with a big hole in the sole, which had been repaired already many times, so in order not to feel the snow through the hole, I did cut a piece of carton paper inside the shoe, but on the way to the school I walked on a nail, hidden by the snow, the snow soon became red.. and I couldn't go back home or I would be late for Classes start. I spent hours in pain, and my feet were so cold, both sock really too wet.
But when I returned home, and my father saw what happened he bought a new pair of shoes for me.I am sure that he and my mother had to sacrifice on something for that!Things like this still happen every where in the world, here in Egypt too..and so many do not know how lucky they are!!
